Dish and a snake!

We went out later than we were going to yesterday because mum spent longer in the bath! We went to the park to see some friends and I took my new MP3 player with me. I let my fiends R and B listen to it while I was playing with some other fiends.
I saw Charly my friend from drama at the park too and she came with me and mum to the museum.
There was another workshop making totems so we all did that. Even mum did! We haven’t finished them yet because we got there a bit late and we still have to stick some tissue paper on them. The reason we were a bit late was because we went to another part of the museum to look at something.

Getting comfy

It was so cool! Charly was too scared to hold it but she did touch it quickly before we left! She came back to our house and set me up with my own Bebo account then she had to go home.

Today’s word is dish. We’ve been to Spain a few times because my nanny and grandad live there and we got these tapas dishes there. I love the colours!

Sun!

It’s a lovely sunny day today and today’s word is sun!
I didn’t take a photo of the sun but I did take two photos though.
This is the first one.

Sun

It’s a mini jigsaw of Sunflowers by Van Gogh. I love Van Gogh and Monet. They’re my absolute favourites! We got it at the National Gallery when we had a weeks holiday in London a few years ago. It was such a cool holiday! We stayed in a hotel right over the road from Hyde Park! The last time I went to London was last August when we were staying at my granny and grandpa’s house in Hastings. We went up to London quite a few times. I love London!
We’re going up again soon. Mum got a email this morning about a Tutankhamun exhibition that she registered for so she can buy tickets before they go on sale. I love ancient Egypt so I can’t wait to see the exhibition! It starts on November 15th and goes on till next year but I want to see it as soon as possible!
My second photo is the big golden sun in the bathroom.

Sun

It’s a bit dusty! It hangs over the bathroom door and I had to stand on the toilet to get a good photo!

New camera!!

On Sunday I finished most of the stone age scene. Yesterday we met some friends in town for a picnic. Then we all went to the museum for a world war two workshop. I’ve been before but Bethany hasn’t. We had loads of fun getting dressed up, but sitting in the dark shelter with the sound of an air raid going on was a bit scary.
They all came back to our house after and I showed Bethany some of my fvourite games on the internet.
But the best news ever is that mum got a new camera from Amazon this morning! It is so brilliant!! But it was quite expensive so mum always has to be with me now when I’m taking any photos.
We went in town this afternoon and I could do all of the photo prompts I’ve missed.

Double.
Some double doors in Cathedral Close.

We went upstairs in the Guildhall shopping centre and looked down.

There’s quite a big hole in a seam on my kagoule and the thread’s are hanging loose!

Pasta.
We didn’t see any pasta in the High Street! But I did see this sign on an Italian reastaurant’s window.

Sorry Mum

I had lots of fun at the two workshops on Thursday. I think my favourite was the one at the cathedral where we made gargoyles and did some brass rubbing. Mum got me a photo permit so I could take some photos inside the cathedral too.

I love the roof! The organThe pulpitBig door!

My favourite window!

On Friday mum had to look after some of my friends. So we had a picnic on the hill where we go blackberry picking. Then we went paddling in the panny and went to a fun day near to us. I showed them how to play mancala when we got home. It’s one of the ancient games I played at the museum.

The fruit leather was ready on Thursday so I took a photo of mum peeling it off the tray. It was really sweet and I liked it better than fruit winders.

Mum laughed at my teeth after I’d been eating lots of blackberries and took this photo of me.

Blackberry teeth!

Yesterday we went to Brixham to do a treasure trail. We went on the Golden Hind and then we met some friends. They helped us a bit to finish the treasure trail. We went paddling in the sea and then we went up to an old fort to watch a little play about why they built the fort there.
I left the camera on the train and mum’s not very happy. So that’s why there’s no photos from yesterday. I’ll have to do the photo prompts again when mum gets a new camera. But mum’s phoned lost property and I hope we get the old camera back.
I made mum a cup of tea and breakfast this morning to say sorry. I’ve been helping lots to tidy up aswell.

Summer in the city!

Filed under: Mum, museum, photo prompts

Today’s photo prompt word is city which is really handy because we live in a really beautiful city!
We went into the city centre today aswell to go to a museum workshop. Before we went there though we went to the cathedral green so I could take some photos for the prompt. This is my favourite one!

Summer in the city!

Mum thinks it’s funny that everyone who sits on the grass all face towards the cathedral! But it is beautiful though! When it’s nice and sunny lots of people eat lunch there and it’s always busy. I love living in Exeter because there’s lots to do and we’re really close to the sea and the countryside too!
Here are some more photos of the cathedral green and all the people there.

Another photo of the cathedral!

Cafes near the cathedral

Hardly anywhere to sit on the grass!

We went to the museum then because there was a Codebreaker workshop. I found out about different codes and ciphers. I found out all about the scytale, the caesar shift cipher, morse code, signal flags, the dancing man cipher, hieroglyphs, and braille. There were some others aswell but I didn’t do them. I’ve got a little booklet to help remind me. It was loads of fun and I enjoyed using the morse code machine most. My nan’s got a friend who’s blind and I’ve seen her use a braille typewriter. It looks very complicated!
After the workshop our limo came to pick us up.

Our limo!!

Our limo!

LOL!!! Not really!! It was parked near the museum and I thought it was fantastic! I got to look inside and it was really nice!!

Yay! It’s summer again!

The workshop yesterday was really good! I made a little cave out of clay. I want to do a project on the Stone Ages now. So when we got home we looked up lots of things on the internet and looked through lots of our books. There’s so many things I want to do. So mum said I can just do that over the summer and I don’t have to do boring workbooks at all! Yay!!!

My cave!

We picked some elderberries the other day so I took them off the stalk and left them out in the sun to dry because we’re going to make a dye out of them!

Me and mum have joind a Scavenger Hunt Flickr group aswell. One of the things we have to find this month is a suit of armour. So when we were at the museum yesterday I took a photo of this picture of a Roman soldier in his armour!

Suit of armour

Today’s photo prompt is “Foil”. So here’s a photo of the foil covering the rhubarb crumble that mum made last night. It was so big we couldn’t finish it all! It was really yummy! I can’t wait to finish it later today.

Foil

Got to go. I want to clean my trainers. They’re new and I got them for my birthday. I’ve got to put the elderberries outside again and I want to check out some more stuff on the stone ages!

The Longest Catch Up Ever!!

I can’t remember exactly all the things I’ve been doing or the days that I did them on. But I’ll try to!
We’ve been cycling loads and loads. Somtimes my legs were really aching badly. And sometimes I couldn’t ride fast at all!
Mum said I’m good enough to ride on the road now. But I don’t ride on the big busy roads. They make me feel scared and unsafe.(Mum doesn’t ride on them either!)
I started to help Di make a bottle top tree for her garden. She let me make a little fire in her garden which was so cool! (But it nearly burnt the plants). We went to the allotment aswell.Mum and me saw Anderson and he said I can have my very own bit in the community garden. It is so exciting! I’m going to start planting things on Tuesday and Di is coming to help. I can’t wait!

Risen from the ashes

We’ve been to group. I’ve had two practices for the WREN trust concert. I went to the scrapstore with J and his dad. Last week Lisa and the girls came in the afternoon so that was fun!
We’ve been to the library and the museum lots. I finished collecting all the trading cards. One of the men at the museum helped me. I think his name was Marcus or Mark. I’ve got some more cards to give him to say thank-you. I’ve been to drama twice, and played the museum card game with a friend there.

The full set!!

I did lots of things for St. Patricks day because I’m half Irish. I found my Irish flag and wore it around me!

Writing wishes on shamrocksFlowers from AdamGold!!

On Mothers Day, I made mum breakfast in bed. It took ages because I put the wrong ring on for the baked beans! I made her a treasure box with some gold coins in. Adam got mum some flowers and we all played Uno Extreme.
I tidied my room which really surprised mum! We went to Lisa’s one afternoon and we played on the computer. We went to pottery on Thursday. J came for the first time and I was really pleased to see him. But T didn’t come.

Finally!Cat and plaqueAnd then there was light!Working out bus timetables for our April trips

I made another collage. I’ve done lots of reading and book reviews. I got a brilliant new book for English called Max and Lara’s Amazing Travelling Space Circus. I really like it and I’ve finished it now! It’s got a big poster that you can add stickers to. I’ve done some other English and maths. I’ve done some science aswell and yesterday I made a circuit and added a switch. I did some more on food for the Bible project. I’ve worked out all the bus times for all the trips we want to do in April.
I’ve done lots of cooking. I’ve made chestnut and mushroom pie, Irish stew, sosmix sausages, cheesy bacon puffs (vegan ones of course!), pea and basil soup, chocolate cake, parsnip cake, cinnamon biscuits, flapjacks and onion and herb scones.

We’ve watched four films, Great Expectations and all three of the Indiana Jones films. My favourite is The Last Crusade.
I want to start up my own club. I’ve done lots of forms for all the members to fill in. I’ve done some membership cards. I’m starting to write a newsletter but I haven’t quite finished it yet. In the newsletter so far I’ve written some of the rules which are no fighting or even play fighting and no pranks.
Last night we went to see some friends and got home about 10 o’clock. I was really tired when I woke up this morning. When I came downstairs mum had fixed the washing machine and there was water all over the floor. So I had to put on my boots to get my breakfast!

Not another weeks worth!

Di’s party was really cool. I made a lot of great new friends there!emoticon

We got back home in time to watch the moon eclipse. It was really cool, but it was really cold in the back garden in my pyjamas!emoticon

On Sunday, we watched Kes. I really liked it, but it was so sad when the bird died.emoticon

We made some things for Hina Matsuri.

On Monday, Lisa, M, D and R came round. We made some more things for Hina Matsuri. It was a really fun day, except R sat on my dharma doll!emoticon

On Tuesday, the council came round to cut the ivy back at the front of the house. But they didn’t have the scaffolding so they came back on Wednesday. I finished making my Hina Matsuri dolls.

On Wednesday, the council really did cut back the ivy. They found 3 birds nests. I was really sad, because I love the birds right by my window.emoticon

We went to group and then I went to drama. After drama Lin, J and M came to our house. We watched Nanny McPhee. Lin showed me how to start crocheting.

On Thursday, I did lots more crocheting. I’m going to start making patterns soon. I was allowed to stay at Lisa’s again on Thursday night. It was really cool!

Yesterday we went to the museum and we did poetry in the morning and collage after lunch.

This is the first poem I wrote.

THE MOUNTAIN

The shadow was huge

Like a mountain

As I looked out of the glass

The Light was bright

And the plain was big

The shadow is small now

The mountain is still big

As I look out of the glass

The light is dim

And the plain is still big

THE END!!

I am really pleased with it. It was my first poem ever!!emoticon

In the afternoon, we did some collage with Anthony Frost. He was really funny! He showed us how to do collage. I had a lot of fun and even mum had joined in!!

The collages took ages to dry so we left them at the museum and we went to pick them up this morning. Mine was still a bit wet!

When we got home, I took the birds nests to bits to see what they were made of. I’m really tired now. So bye for now!emoticon

Lots of Teeth!!

Filed under: history, Mum, food, museum

We had a quiet day at home yesterday but I added lots more to my Lego town.

Lego Town

I added a mine like I saw on Paint Your Wagon. I used gold card for the gold they were finding. I used the plaster from my crystal mining kit for prisoners to break up as rocks.

Rocks for prisoners to break up

I made a police station from the Canon website.

Police Station

It’s a really cool site and I use it a lot.

Today we went into town. We had lunch at Herbies and I had some soup with garlic bread. For pudding I had ginger and citrus tart. It was really scrumptious!!
We went to the museum after lunch. Last year I found something in the garden when J, M and me were digging in the garden. We all thought it must be a tooth. A lady from the museum called Claudia looked at it. She said it was a partly fossilised horse tooth from the end of the last ice age.

Partially Fossilised Horse Tooth

That is so cool!!! She said if I find anything else to take it in to show her. I did another museum quiz sheet. It was geology at work. I chose to do that one because that’s where they have some of the museum fossils. We went to look at the horse teeth in the local archeology area. The teeth in the museum came from Kent’s Cavern. But mine came from the back garden! I think I want to be an archeologist when I grow up. It would really interesting to find lots of old things. I’m going to carry on digging in my back garden. I want to build a firepit out there aswell!
My mum bought me a chinese parasol, a chinese decoration and some chinese lucky money pouches at the museum too.

Blurry parasol

I got some new trainers which are black and pink so that’s really cool! I like the laces.
I made a flicker book when we got home because we missed all of the animation things. That came from Canon too!
I’ve got two more teeth under my pillow waiting for the tooth fairy to come!! They’ve been there for ages now so I hope she comes tonight or very soon anyway!!!
I nearly forgot to say that I got the next Bugs magazine today. It’s a Rhinoceros Beetle this time. In the next issue I get the monster size display case. So far I’ve got all five issues. Mum said that I wasn’t allowed every single one of them, so I think I’ve been quite lucky really!

Crystal Mining!

Yesterday we went to the museum so I could do a clocks quiz sheet. Some of the clocks were really beautiful. My favourite was the Exeter clock. I got another pack of trading cards!
After that we went to the community centre where I do my gardening. But we made some magical fantasy clocks instead. I made a cat clock and I used a lot of tissue paper and glue!

Olivia's Cat Clock

I got another pack of museum trading cards!
Lin, J and M came too. I swapped some of my cards with M. I’ve got 43 now! I only need 9 more then I’ve got them all!! I gave some to M, D and R, but I’ve still got four more to trade with someone.
We babysat for Dylan last night and got home really really late!

Getting *all* the bricks out

Today I got up really late!
I finally got to do my crystal mining set that we got at the science museum last year. It took a long time to find them all. But I got 10 altogether and the pack said there would only be 8 so I think they made a bit of a mistake!
I helped mum make some crispy duckless pancakes. We were going to make them on Monday for Chinese new year but we only got round to it today.

Spreading a thin layer

They were lovely. We made them before but we used tortilla wraps instead of rice pancakes. I think I like them better with the tortilla wraps.
There was a lot of plaster powder left from the crystal mining so I made a Lego wagon and a spade to carry it all away.
I don’t know what we’re doing tomorrow yet. Mum said if it’s nice weather we can go on a long bike ride by the river. I really really hope it’s nice weather!
